CARISA’S ROLE AT BLAST IT CLEAN
Carisa started out with Blast it Clean in 2015 as a Staff Accountant. After completing the requirements, she received her CPA license in 2017 and has been our accounting go-to ever since. Carisa is a calming presence to the team who always puts others' needs first.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO BIC?
When I took the job initially, I was just looking to get some experience. I decided to stay home when my girls were little (now high schoolers) but had also gone back to school and got my degree in accounting during that time. After 11 years, it was time for me to reenter the workforce. As luck would have it, I was also able to complete my CPA requirements while working at Blast It Clean and continue to advance my career.
WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED FROM WORKING AT BIC?
Well again I completed my CPA and since then I’ve continued expanding my skill set. I’ve been able to transfer my academic knowledge to real-life applications. The biggest thing I’ve been able to gain is personal growth. It’s an important part of our company culture.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR CAREER AND FAMILY?
Exhaustion! Sometimes I’m not sure I do, but I just try to go with it. I try not to get emotionally charged and only take on what I can control.
WHAT IS YOUR HOPE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS WITH BIC? WHAT ABOUT PERSONALLY?
I want to help the company continue to grow. We have goals to expand and continue to be a leader in our industry. I want to be part of the development of the team and help other people grow. I enjoy supporting the personal development of our employees.
Personally, the next 5 years will have a lot of changes in my life. My husband and I will have milestone birthdays, and two of our children will graduate high school and start their careers or college. I just want to launch them into real life and help them navigate the world.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY
I’ve been with my husband for over 20 years and we have 4 children. We love to travel. We love doing little day trips and also cruising and exploring. We like visiting forts and lighthouse/ historical sites. We also like snorkeling and being at the beach.
WHAT IS SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I grew up on a farm until I was 7 years old in a 100-year-old farmhouse. From there we moved to an apartment downtown Kansas City. While I’ve spent most of my time in the “city”, I have a soft spot for country life.
YOU’RE HAPPIEST WHEN?
I'm at the beach with my husband and kids.
WHAT ARE YOUR THREE MOST OVERUSED WORDS/PHRASES?

“Have you drank enough water?” - This is usually where I begin when troubleshooting my kid's complaints.

“Have you tried restarting?” – I’ve become a little bit of an IT person around the office so I’ve quickly learned the magic of restarting.
WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT MIGHT SURPRISE PEOPLE ABOUT YOU?
I completed Rugged Maniac last year with the company. I don’t have a single athletic bone in my body and I wasn’t fast, but I finished and I did it on my own.
WHAT ONE FOOD DO YOU WISH HAD ZERO CALORIES?
Tacos or chocolate.
